15.00–16.00 uur Varkensmarktpodium, Varkensmarkt

Naast de professionele muzikanten willen we met behulp van ons programma onderdeel “Kids in the Blues” jonge muzikanten tot 18 jaar tot de blues bekeren. Sinds 2004 is er aandacht voor deze groep jonge muzikanten en vanaf 2005 zelf met een eigen podium. Ook dit jaar is er weer een podium wat in het teken staat van deze Kids in the Blues. Dit podium bevindt zich op de Varkenmarkt wat ook een gezellige locatie is in de binnenstad.

De streekmuziekschool ’De Plantage’ is er vanaf het begin bij en verzorgt het eerste uur van het programma. De deelnemers hebben een gemiddelde leeftijd tot maximaal 18 jaar. Het jonge talent wordt in diverse lessen en workshops klaar gestoomd voor een optreden op Culemborg Blues. Streekmuziekschool ‘De Plantage’ bewijst elk jaar weer dat de regio rijk aan talent is en het publiek bewijst op haar beurt ieder jaar weer dat het deze culturele rijkdom zeer waardeert.

Omdat kinderen nu eenmaal niet tot middernacht mogen opblijven, worden de laatste optredens op dit podium verzorgd door ‘oudere jongeren’, of ‘jongere ouderen’, het is maar net hoe je het bekijkt. Nadat de nog onervaren aspirant bluesmuzikanten gespeeld hebben zal het podium gevuld worden met de meer ervaren (professionele-) muzikanten. Not only professional musicians will performe at Culemborg Blues: with our “Kids in the Blues” we aim to bring young talented musicians in closer contact with the blues. “Kids in the Blues” is organized since 2004 and since 2005 it has it’s own stage. Just like this year. The “Kids in the Blues” stage can be found at the Varkensmarkt, an intimate location in the city centre of Culemborg.

The regional school of music ‘De Plantage’ is in it from the start and takes care of the first hour where young talent of their’s perform. The youngsters have an average age of maximum 18. They are prepared in lessons and workshops for the performance at the Culemborg Blues festival. Year after year the regional school of music ‘De Plantage’ proofs that the region is rich on talents and the public in return proofs that they highly appreciate this cultural richness.

Because children are not aloud to stay up until midnight, the last gigs are brought to you by the ‘elderly youngsters’ or the ‘younger elder’, it is just in the eye of the beholder. After the inexperienced blues musicians have performed, the stage will be taken by the experienced (professional) musicians. See for the gigs the program for this stage on at the centre of this book.
