Leif de Leeuw is een 15-jarige gitarist uit Amersfoort die in razend tempo de podia voor zich wint. Hij is met gitaarspelen begonnen toen hij 9 was en 6 jaar later, in 2009, wint Leif de Leeuw de SENA Dutch Guitar Awards 2009 voor de jeugd t/m 21 jaar. Leif de Leeuw, begeleid door vader Bert, won de award met het hetzelfde nummer waarmee hij zich in de finale geplaatst had, het prachtige “Cause we’ve ended as lovers” van Jeff Beck. De passie en het gevoel waarmee hij het nummer bracht was van een dusdanig niveau dat je een speld kon horen vallen in de zaal. Ook de jury was sprakeloos en de commentaren waren in superlatieven.

Sluit je ogen, en je meent een door het leven getekende bluesveteraan uit Chicago te horen. Open je ogen, en je ziet een tenger jochie van het Amersfoortse Corderius Lyceum.

 Leif de Leeuw is a 15 year old guitarist and prodigy who resides in de city of Amersfoort, in the center of a tiny country, called Holland. He started playing guitar at the age of nine. Six years later, in 2009, he won the SENA Dutch Guitar Awards 2009 for youth up to 21 years. Leif de Leeuw was accompanied by his father Bert and won the award with the same song which gave him his position in the final, the beautiful “Cause we’ve ended as lovers” of Jeff Beck. The passion and feeling in the song was stunning and the audience was stock-still. The jury was also speechless and the comments in superlatives.

Close your eyes and you think there’s a blues veteran from Chicago. Open your eyes and you see a slender boy from a highschool.
